Truth Trek - Tok Tok
Although there are so few believers here, there is a church! It’s just a half day hike from the airport town of Lukla. We stayed with a hotel belonging to believers from this church both directions of our trek. This hotel has zero of the Buddhist accruements, simply a wooden carving of the name Jesus on the wall. What a delight to join these brothers and sisters for meals in their hotel. They gathered with joy to be with other Christians.
The church is right on the trail to Everest Base Camp. The nations literally pass the structure every day. Here, on out last full day in the mountains we gathered for a conference. It had rained non-stop all night and was still coming down in buckets. It eventually turned into heavy, wet snowflakes… but they came! Actually, more came than we expected. The small room filled with warm bodies. Not quite warm enough to take off coats and hats as there was no heat source. Despite the weather, the church gathered for a day of training. It as a delight.

Of course, the day included singing, team special music, games, prayer, big lunch, and a super sendoff. What a day with this vibrant little mountain church.
We left the church at 5:00 pm and hiked into the night back to Lukla to fly out in the morning. Our hearts were filled with joy as we climbed up to our final hotel under the bright moon. May God strengthen this fellowship of followers and may God plant many others in this spiritually dark region of the globe. Thank you, Jesus, for our new friends in Tok Tok.
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven." (Matthew 5:14–16 - ESV)
